Any careers dealing with photography (that doesn’t have humans as subjects)?

I like photography, but unfortunately I’m a very basic beginner. I’m certified in Microsoft Office programs and I’m currently making a good wage as an Excel/Access specialist, but I don’t want to do this with the rest of my life and I think something along the lines of digital photography may be something I would like to pursue. (I’m 23)

But I don’t like the idea of taking pics of kids, married couples, family portraits, high school graduates, etc… I think I would be more interested in focusing on nature, animals (especially birds), science (especially astronomy related… as long as it doesn’t require too much of a science background… I’m not a scientist), etc… (And no, I don’t want to go into journalism and take pics of current events / news)

Does anyone know of any non-human subject photography job titles / careers I could consider? Thanks.

I took photography classes in high school. A while ago, I started going to local horse shows (very ameture shows) and taking pictures of the people riding. For me it was origionally to take pictures of my daughter and her friends, but at one show a woman asked if I was the photographer. I just asked her what number she was and made sure to take lots of pics of her. I then got her name and email and after the show I edited a bunch of pics and contacted her. I met her at a coffee shop and showed her the disc I made on my laptop. I ended up selling her the disk and she liked it so much I ended up being called by her several times to photograph her and her friends riding. Word spread and I ended up with a pretty good business. You can check with local tack shops in your area and find out where low level shows are if you are interested. Then you can call and tell the organizers that you are trying to start a business and ask them about shooting at their shows.
