shutter speeds for digital cameras?
I’m looking to invest in a digital camera but i’d like to find one that will allow me to take photos quickly, including action shots. Something with the convenience of digital results but the speed and quality of a 35mm.
Am i correct in looking for a digital camera with a fast
shutterspeed? Any photography afficionado’s who can recommend a camera or what specifications I should be looking for?
Many thanks.
All compact digital cameras usually allow fast shutter speeds (1/1500-1/2000 sec. etc)…but, what you’re really thinking about is shutter lag (the delay between pressing the shutter button and the camera actually taking the shot). This is dependent on the make and model of camera and how fast or slow it’s auto focus system works.
Some cameras suffer more from shutter lag than others. Many Sony compacts have minimal shutter lag (see first link below). However, image quality and other features might not always be the best when compared to others.
If you want almost instant shot to shot performance…look at a dSLR instead. If you are familiar with a 35mm SLR camera, then a dSLR just might be what you’re looking for (Canon or Nikon).
