How do I blend two pictures of something into one using CS3?
Say I wanted to put my daughter into a digital background how would I do that? I’ve dried doing it with the magnetic lasso tool but when I cut her out of the picture she comes out with rough edges. Is there an easier way to do this. I am just now starting a photography business but would like to know how to do this for my customers and have a nice image. Any suggestions. Thanks.
The magnetic lasso tool often does work very well, but it may be that the picture of your daughter has a background that’s a little too complicated. You could try feathering the selection by a few pixels (though it will depend on how big the picture is to begin with). There should be a box that says “Feather:” with a 0 px next to it. You might want to try experimenting with that.
On the other hand there’s a tool called quickmasking–it’s the keyboard command “Q”. You then use the brush tool to paint over your daughter entirely. It can be a more accurate way of doing the selection, but it often will take a very long time, depending on how accurate or specific you make the selection. After you’re done, you’d just press “Q” again, and there should be a selection of your daughter, which you would then right click and press “Copy”.
Finally there’s a tool called the extract tool, which you get to by going to Filters>Exract. Just make sure to copy the background layer before using it.
