Can you tell me……?
……….in very, very basic layman’s terms as I am brand new to photography, what an SLR is? I have seen this describing both traditional and Digital cameras and it usually refers to the biggest, most expensive models.
I am presuming it has something to do with the photographer being more involved in the qualiyt of the picture?
Are they complicated to use, should I stay clear until I at least learn the basics?

The single-lens reflex (SLR) is a type of camera that uses a movable mirror placed between the lens and the film to project the image seen through the lens to a matte focusing screen. Most SLRs use a roof pentaprism or pentamirror to observe the image via an eyepiece, but there are also other finder arrangements, such as the waist-level finder or porro prisms.
