Are local community education classes worth the cost?
The classes I’m talking about are the ones offered by by Parks & Rec or School Districts. They offer classes all kinds of short classes from Beginning Guitar to Digital Photography – usually from a couple of nights to 6+ weeks. Some of the classes my town offer sound great – but they seem so short that I wonder how much you could actually benefit.
Take one, see what you think. I have taken a few & enjoyed them, Short time, but a lot of material covered. I find they give you the basics of the things to do & not to do. I took digital photography for example. It was 4 weeks, 2 hours 2 nights a week for a total of 16 hours. We covered a lot of info, you can’t become a photographer in 16 hours, BUT you learned the basics, a few tips & tricks & practiced in class to see how one shot would turn out at different settings, etc. THEN you can practice on your own by remembering the things you did learn. I have taken home canning, photography, family tree preparation, jelly & candy making, cake decorating, a few needlework classes. Go for it they are fun usually & You can meet people with the same interest as you.
