Question for photographers?
What kind of camera should I get? I want a professional camera to pursue my interest in photography. I’ve been taking pictures with a regular digital camera for a while now, but I want a really good one. Also, what accessories should I get? Like lenses and whatnot. And what kindof photo editing software should I get to make my photos look even better or add some good effects? Thanks!

A ‘pro camera’ can set you back $5,000 easy.. Without lens. 1 good lens can be $2,000 very easy..

Adobe Photo Shop is at least $700 but I have seen it as low as $500 at places..

And ya know what sparky..? None of this means crap’ola if you don’t know how to use it. A photo editing program will not make poop look better, just more like poop. Most good photographers don’t rely on “fixing the photo” later. What they take IS the photo. Period.

How much money do you have..?? A fairly good D-SLR body that will give you years of service can be had for under $1,000. 1 good all about lens, another $8 to 1,000 bucks (18~200 zoom).

A good Image Editing Program made primarily for digital photos is Paint Shop Pro. Get their X2 for $29.00 or the newer X3 for $69..

Prints..?? Here you can go from $500 to $5,000 and more for printer. I went with a Epson 7600 wide format 8 color printer. 8×10 to 24×36 inch, or longer, can be done with my D-SLR. (and it’s almost 5 years old and only has a APS size sensor).

It’s not what you buy but knowing how to use it. Most ‘pro’s’ shoot on M most of the time but I see most people with expensive cameras around their necks on P ALL the time and then wonder why their photos are average looking..
