Digital Photography Enlargement

Does anyone have any suggestions for making more money in the professional photography business?

Ever since digital photography the market has changed a lot. Clients don’t want to buy enlargements and they don’t even want tto hire a pro for weddings etc. If you are not into shooting commercial stuff and weddings are in a slump..what else can we do? Thanks for any ideas from professional photoghaphers.

Although things have slowed, there are still some people that know the value of capturing their wedding. I have had several brides tell me that is the one thing they were not going to cut corners on, because it is important. And being a photographer, I happen to agree. You won’t get to eat your reception food everyday, but you can display your pictures for the rest of your life.

Okay, with that being said, I agree some with KK, but also, you have to make yourself stand out. Right now brides don’t want the same ol’ they want originality and modernism overall.. There are still going to be a few that want traditional, but more & more are leaning to PJ..

Revamp!! Do inexpensive things to change your image.. refresh & make sure you are well branded. Hand out business cards every chance you get… okay.. let me start that statement over. Converse with strangers at the grocery store or where ever you go. Strike up a small conversation (especially if they have cute kids) and at the end of a quick 2 min conversation hand them a card. You have created a small bond, and if they are going to go anywhere for pictures they will either use you or recommend you.

Don’t be afraid to put a little in, to get a lot out. I would print a small amount of handouts with your favorite pictures of the shoot so they can hand them out to their friends. Make sure to put your logo & info pretty large and make them and uncommon size to draw attention.

One more thing, with people watching their wallets, run some small specials or evaluate your pricing. You still have your own mouth to feed, & want to keep that image that I’m good- just reasonable, but it never hurts to evaluate that.

Hope this helps at least a little… Good Luck!
