Is anybody familiar with The New York Institute of Photography?
This is a home study course in digital photography and appears to be very thorough. I understand they have been around for along time. I just would like to know if anyone has had experience with them, and if it would be worth it for me to enroll?
I wouldn’t say it’s crap. Maybe rather basic. I have seen the course materials for the film school a couple of years ago. Covered topics pretty well. You send in assignments and get critiqued by their instructors. Like any mail order school, what you get out of it depends in great part what you put into it.
Not sure what their tuition is now. For a pure beginner, the course would probably be worth it. If you’ve been snapping a few years and reading photo magazines, then you should already know a lot of the material covered. The good thing would be getting feedback. Of course, you can enroll in a college class or maybe find a photography mentor to do the same thing.
Good luck!
