SLR lens to work with a DSLR lens?

Im making the step between film and digital photography and i wanted to know, would a lens that I would use to shoot film work if I put it on a DSLR?
-thank you for your time

NIKON: Still using the same lens mount on their DSLR cameras that they introduced on their 35mm film cameras in 1959.

CANON: Changed from the FD mount to the EOS mount when they introduced their AF camera in 1985. There may be an adapter to use the older FD mount lenses on the EOS mount cameras but you’ll have to search for it.

MINOLTA: Changed from the MC/MD mount to the A-mount with the introduction of the Maxxum 7000 in 1985. They offered a 2X teleconverter to mount the MC/MD lenses on the A-mount. I believe there is also an adapter that does the same thing. When Minolta merged with Konica they kept the A-mount on their D5 & D7 DSLR cameras.

SONY: When they bought the DSLR line from Konica-Minolta they kept the A-mount. Every legacy Maxxum lens from 1985 on will work with the Sony “Alpha” series cameras – A100, A200, A300, A350, A700.

OLYMPUS: They changed their lens mount when they adopted the 4/3 format for their DSLR cameras. There is an adapter available to use the older lenses from the Olympus 35mm film cameras on the current DSLR cameras.

PENTAX: Still using the venerable K-mount introduced around 1975. Any legacy K-mount lens from 1975 on will mount to the current Pentax DSLR cameras.

There is an adapter available to allow you to use the Minolta MC/MD lenses on the Canon EOS cameras and there is one available to allow you to use them on the Olympus 4/3 cameras.

There are also adapters available to allow use of the even older M-42 screw mount lenses on many of the modern DSLR cameras.
