Amateur Night Photography using Digital Camera?
any tips to share in taking night photography with automatic digital cameras? photos taken are usually blur or overexposure
The shutter will be open for a long time, so anything that moves will be blurry. Also, if you are holding the camera you will move it so everything is blurry. Put the camera on a tripod or at least set it on something sturdy such as a fence or the top of your car while you take the photo.
Cameras are really dumb and don’t realize when it is dark. The light meter thinks you want the scene to be a typical scene with white and black balanced instead of being mostly dark as you would expect. Set it for 1 f/stop underexposure if your camera has that feature. Otherwise, adjust the exposure in an image editing program such as Photoshop afterwards.
