What is the “Shutter” and “Shutter Speed”?
digital photography class
dear curious, i am doing a digital photography assignment and needed to know what they ment i have only been in this class for 2 days, but thanks
Megan,
That’s pretty concerning that your teacher hasn’t explained to you what a shutter is, how it works and why it’s key to photography. Ditto for shutter speed. They – along with aperture and ISO – are the pillars of photography.
Unless you’re in the middle of a test that you didn’t bother to study for & hoping some poor sap will provide it to you. If that’s the case, drop the class. You don’t have enough interest in it to justify taking it.
Here are the definitions:
* Shutter – Controls the light entering a camera. It’s used to expose the sensor (or, film) for a precise interval of time.
* Shutter speed – This is that precise interval of time that the shutter stays open during an exposure.
Good luck! Hope things pick up from here in the class and you learn more useful info in it! Megan, you’ve listed every question you were asked here on Yahoo! Answers. That shows a lack of initiative and interest on your part that you aren’t at least doing Google research to find the answers. It’s an odd time of year to only be 2 days into a class. And a lot of questions for a teacher to give you to figure out “2 days into a class”. Either they aren’t teaching or something else is going on…
