How does stock photography work in a digital world? Can you make any money in it?
try shutterstock.com , register and upload some photos, give some id, if you are any good you’ll be selling pictures by next week to users all over the world that are impressed by your work. or maybe magazines would buy it – you get the same price.. a few bucks a pic.
If you have very good pictures, DON’T give all the rights to one particular website (although they might give you more money if you give them exclusivity, but you won’t be able to use those pictures yourself.)
You need: a valid Driver’s ID or Passport on some sites, imagination, a decent camera (if you don’t have a digital SLR i recommend you start off with a Canon Digital Rebel XT – prices have gone down alot), time to take good pictures, basic editing skills (very fast to learn) and 4 MPixel Pics that catch the eye somehow and that people would pay to have…. it’s that simple.
