Photographers please help!!?
So this year I took photography I at my high school. I’m going to be a sophomore next year. Everyone used a film camera. There are 4 levels of the film photography program and there are no digital photo programs at my school. The teacher isn’t a good teacher that teaches in depth, but only the very basics (like shutter speed, and aperture, an that’s it). Everyone uses the dark room, and develops black and white photos. In college, I would like to major or minor in photography, but I would like to be more prepared before hand. Where can I go to take more classes in photography? What are the high school requirements to be able to attend the Art Department in college? I’m very frustrated right now because I’m self teaching myself by reading books and articles, but I feel like I’m getting nowhere. Where can I go to learn more about the mechanics of photography? =( Can u guys please help me?
I have a BA in photography. Let me tell you. I had a horrible photography teacher in High School. She once burst into tears because (she thought) no one liked her. yeah I know, not exactly focused on her task at hand. So my advice is don’t panic. If you’re in it for the long haul things will become more clear as you go along. Reading is a great way to do it. Art departments are not that hard to get into in most cases. As long as the University itself accepts you. Most professional photographers don’t have degrees anyway. It’s important to realize how independently driven this profession is anyway. And once you realize that it’s important to take a deep breath and relax.
