
Recommendations for a new camera?
I already own the Olympus SP-550UZ, and while it is a great camera, I’m looking for something a little more professional. I’m considering buying a digital SLR camera. I talked to a few professional photographers, and from what I understand Nikon and Cannon are the most popular and best makers of digital SLR cameras. But I want the name of a specific model, or a few models to check if that’s possible. It doesn’t have to be Nikon or Cannon, it just has to be something I will be able to find at a photography store.
From Nikon, I’d suggest the D40. Even though the D40 is going to be discontinued soon, it’s a great camera. It’s about $300-$400 (for the body only).
From Canon, I’d suggest the Rebel XS. It’s about $400-$500.
