How can I learn how to correctly use my SLR digital camera?
I bought an SLR digital camera in 2005 but I never learned how to use it… I’m sure the camera is outdated now but it’s the sony cybershot dsc-H1 and I REALLY want to learn how to use it and take professional looking photographs. I can’t take any photography classes at the moment (maybe in the future) but until then, how can I learn to use it. I read the instructions manual and it’s pretty confusing..HELP!
THanks A LOT
Actually, what you have is an advanced point and shoot camera with a high zoom and some manual adjustments. The camera will be fine and is capable of taking some good pictures for a few years yet. The best way to learn how to use any camera is to read the manual and take some classes, either formal or informal. There are plenty of online tutorials (classes) to help with photography basics and even specific models. This would be the informal classes. Once you are comfortable with the controls, just get out there and start taking some pictures. It’s digital, so don’t be worried about experimenting with light, shadow, angles, etc. Sure, you’ll take some bad pictures, and you’ll get some great ones as well. I would advise starting in pure auto mode, then maybe experiment with shutter speeds.
